Hello and welcome to my classroom blog!
Let's start at the beginning (a very good place to start!). I knew I wanted to be a teacher before I graduated from High School. I was in mentoring clubs and we would travel down to the elementary schools and tutor children one on one who needed extra support, care, and love. It was the best part of my day, but even with that I was sure I wanted to teach High School English. I am in love with all things literature and writing. Even when I began college, my major was Secondary Education, but those little, young ones were never far from my mind and heart and I soon changed my major to Elementary Education and haven't looked back.
I grew up in south eastern Pennsylvania (Go Phillies!) and attended Millersville University. I graduated in May 2006 and in July 2006 I accepted a position as Third Grade Teacher in Wake County in Raleigh, North Carolina. I worked at the same school for 4 years and served on many committees including Parent Involvement, Field Trips, and Grades 3-5 Writing. I was also the liaison for Language Arts between the county and my school for grade 3-5, and was grade level leader for 2 years.
After 4 years of living in Raleigh, my husband's job brought us to San Diego, where I have been the elementary teacher at a private Montessori school. It has been a welcome change from teaching in a public school and I have enjoyed the diverse learners that come through my classroom.
